DORA – the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act – comes into force in 8 months’ time, on 16 January 2025. It will have a major impact UK financial entities and their critical ICT (information and communications technology) suppliers whose operations take them into the EU.
Going far beyond existing outsourcing and financial soundness rules, DORA is much more than a contract re-papering exercise – although it is that as well. The new rules aim to deeply embed common standards and a comprehensive approach towards operational resilience and risk management across the 20,000 or so financial entities and critical ICT suppliers operating in the EU.
Financial services regulatory expert Tom Hine draws on his 17 years’ experience as General Counsel of the London Metal Exchange to advise on contentious and non-contentious regulatory law and corporate governance. During his time at the LME, Tom has advised on numerous financial and operational resilience and governance projects, shaping his experience and expertise in the run up to DORA implementation.
Kemp IT Law has particular experience at the intersection of ICT and regulatory law advising UK financial services entities and ICT suppliers to the financial sector and who fall within the EU regulatory net.
Together, Tom and Kemp IT Law have extensive experience of DORA and the regulatory, policy, contractual and risk management issues arising.
