Tom Hine, former General Counsel at the London Metal Exchange, has joined tech law boutique Kemp IT Law LLP as Consultant Partner.

Tom trained at top City law firm Simmons & Simmons and had a spell at US firm Debevoise & Plimpton. He joined the LME in 2006, becoming at 30 one of the youngest GCs in the City. Twice named in Financial News’ ‘40 under 40 Rising Legal Stars’, his responsibilities covered all aspects of the LME’s legal, regulatory, enforcement, ESG and CoSec functions.
Tom stepped down in early 2023 to set up his own independent consultancy, Cambitas, winning plaudits from the LME Management Team on his departure for his ‘instrumental’ work at the LME and in the broader commodities industry.
At Cambitas, Tom’s main area of focus is regulatory and legal work along the commodities trading value chain for exchanges, clearing houses and their members, and other buy- and sell- side financial firms. Digital assets are a particular specialty.
