The new UK Bill, generative AI and international transfers
Date and Time: 08.30 – 10.30, 22 June 2023
Place: The Walbrook Club, 37a Walbrook, London EC4N 8BS
For our first in person event since before the pandemic, we’ve chosen three areas of data protection that clients are telling us are top of their list for their legal and compliance teams right now:
- the new Data Protection and Digital Information (No.2) Bill introduced to Parliament on 8 March 2023 – when/if it’s likely to be passed and what it means in practice for data protection in the UK
- the practical impact of the GDPR on generative AI as new services like ChatGPT (Microsoft), Bard and Vertex (Google) and Bedrock (AWS) hit the mainstream
- steering through the maelstrom of regulation on international transfers at home, in the EU and beyond.
Deirdre Moynihan, Partner and IAPP CIPM and CIPP/E, is recognised by Who’s Who Legal 2023 as a Global Leader in data privacy and data protection and is noted by Chambers 2023 as leading a “well established practice for data regulation”.
Partner Chris Kemp, a 2023 Best Lawyers “one to watch”, is noted by Legal 500 2022 as “standing out for his involvement in AI projects”.
Associate Eleanor Hobson built a unique role as Legal Engineer within the Legal Technology Team at her previous firm before joining Kemp IT Law. A noted data protection specialist with a fast growing reputation, she advises a wide range of clients on operational and strategic GDPR projects.
The session will take place under Chatham House rules.
