First Co-ordinated Enforcement Action on use of Cloud Services in EEA Starts

Last week, the European Data Protection Board launched an investigation into the use of cloud services by public sector bodies in the EU. The EDPB is the EU’s ‘umbrella’ regulator of European data protection authorities, and an important voice on GDPR in Europe.

The EDPB is due to report back at the end of this year and is likely to point up GDPR compliance challenges that the cloud poses (particularly when provided from outside the EU).
